There was an attempt in the past few years to bring back shiny brass accents. Homeowners are still trying to replace the dated 1990's brass fixtures so that trend didn't really land well with designers and homeowners. The new brass is brushed with a lustrous finish that works with most of the new decorating surfaces available.
